The body responsible for supervising these programmes is the CPPC (Certification Programmes and Policy Committee), whose work it is:
- Approve the certification programs.
- To review the procedures.
- Suggest changes and improvements that maintain the integrity and value of Eurovent certification.
For each certification programme they are established:
- Two committees formed by any company participating in the certification programme:
- Launching Committee. It establishes the procedures to open a new program, being necessary that, at least, three companies of three different countries are interested in participating in the same one.
- Compliance Committee. It supervises the development of the certification program administered by ECC, being in charge of:
- The evaluation of the laboratories, the procedures they use, the percentage of failures and their treatment.
- Defining the standards for technical documentation.
- The modifications and promotion of the programs.
- The claims and complaints of the participants.
- Two specific documents, prepared by the Launching Committee and approved by the CPPC. These documents, which are modified annually if necessary, are:
- Operations Manual (OM). It describes the procedures of the program, such as, among others:
- Number of units to be tested
- Selection of the units
- Handling of failures
- Factory audits
- Standard Data (RS). Describes the tests and nominal values of certified products.
- Operations Manual (OM). It describes the procedures of the program, such as, among others:
The main characteristics of the Certification Programs are:
- Each certification program is designed for each type of product.
- Eurovent certification is open to all European and non-European manufacturers of products, regardless of membership in Eurovent national associations, size or sales volume of the company.
- Products are only certified to be sold in Europe.
- The programs are based on ISO or CEN standards, if these do not exist, a relevant Eurovent document is used.
- The entire product range is certified, not individual models.
- Only a limited number of parameters are certified in order to facilitate comparisons.
- An independent laboratory is selected for each program. In case more than one laboratory certifies the same product, the verification that the results obtained are comparable is carried out regularly.
- When the product is certified, the participant can incorporate the certification logo in all its documentation. The certificate is valid until a certain date defined in each program.
